Orchard Updates

2026 Community Harvest Day — Canceled

Due to still ripening fruit and heavy windfalls, the Curran Orchard Community Harvest Day on Sunday, August 30th has been canceled.

Although CORE volunteers were able to harvest the high density area for last week’s Cider Squeeze, the hot weather affected many of the other trees, resulting in heavy windfalls. There are still some Golden Delicious apples left; however, they won’t be ripe for several more weeks, according to CORE representatives.

People are still welcome to visit the park; however, please refrain from picking from any taped tree since these are saved for tree adopters and school tours.

Summer Concert Scheduling Update!

The Rock and Roll Magic concert in the orchard has been rescheduled by the City of University Place. New date: Thursday, August 27th. We hope to see you then!

Ice cream and water will be sold by Chambers Bay Women's Club. Feel free to bring picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs. No alcohol allowed in city parks.

Tree Care Activity: Tape Your Trees

Apples are appearing throughout the orchard. Tree adopters (both Pruning and Orchard Supporters) will need to tape their apple tree with flagging tape and hang "Do Not Pick - Adopter will Pick" signs. Flagging tape can be purchased at most hardware stores and some grocery stores in the hardware section. More information here.

This is an important tree care activity! Taping your tree and hanging "Do Not Pick" signs will deter people who visit the orchard from picking apples from your tree, especially during Orchard Events.

2026 Tree Adoptions

Adoptions for the 2026 Harvest Season ended on July 31st.

About the Orchard

The Curran Apple Orchard Park is a 7.33 acre apple orchard located within the City of University Place. Created as a hobby orchard in the early 1950s, the orchard today offers residents and visitors a multitude of opportunities.

More than 200 trees with more than 15 varieties of apples offer a tranquil place to enjoy nature along with providing food and shelter for birds, bees, small wildlife, and deer.

CORE activities include the Adopt-A-Tree program, tree care and insect education, pruning instruction, tours, summer concerts, an adopter's cider squeeze, and the Community Harvest Day.
