Late May/early June — Thin, thin, thin!
In person thinning instruction available on Saturday, May 30 from 11am-2pm. Check in at the barn.

After the apples are the size of a nickel, start your thinning! Remove all fruitlets in a cluster except for the largest one. Gently twist off the other fruit or use hand pruners, collect the fruitlets in a bucket, and then place them in the dumpster. Do not throw the apple fruitlets on the ground to avoid insect problems later on. A good rule of thumb is that fruitlets should not be touching each other.
All adopters are required to thin their trees to prevent branch breakage and promote larger, healthier fruit. Some trees may require thinning more than once! After you are done thinning, please sign the "Thinning List" located on the outside barn door.

You can find more information on the Thinning webpage.
