Insect Traps

Hanging Insect Traps

Each year, volunteers hang codling moth and apple maggot traps in 16 “test” trees to gauge insect activity, which enables us to select the appropriate insect control methods.

On Saturday, May 2nd, CORE volunteers will be in the orchard to hang insect traps. We need your help starting at 9am to assemble codling moth tents and “sticky” apples and hang the traps in our 16 test trees. Insect traps are hung each year to monitor bugs as well as help us determine which sprays are appropriate. Spreading mulch is also an ongoing process! We look forward to seeing you in the orchard soon.
