Annual Cider Squeeze

Curran Apple Orchard's Annual Cider Squeeze

CORE is proud to present the Annual Cider Squeeze for our tree adopters and community!

2026 Annual Cider Squeeze

The Annual Cider Squeeze will be on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The cider squeeze event is organized by CORE, with support from the City of University Place and volunteers. Tree adopters will receive more information during the summer about this fun, family-friendly event. In 2025, CORE invited the community to participate as well. Due to a limited number of presses, tree adopters will receive priority for pressing time slots.

When arriving at the orchard, please stop at the Welcome/Volunteer Check In Table to receive instructions on the Cider Squeeze process. Please bring your own picking bags (no outside apples) and limit yourself to two grocery bags to allow others to enjoy the orchard. Give yourself plenty of time to pick your apples before your pressing time slot.

About the cider squeeze process

A cider squeeze is where freshly picked apples from the orchard are washed and put through a cider press, producing an unfiltered, unpasteurized juice without added sugars. Washed apples are put into the press and ground into a pulp. The pulp is placed into a mesh bag in the press and then the pulp is squeezed to extract the juice. The juice leaves the cider press and flows into a clean bucket. The juice is then transferred to gallon or half-gallon sized containers. Apple juice from the cider press is raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized, sometimes containing sediment or pulp.

Tips for the cider squeeze
  • Bring your own bags and pick your apples ahead of your cider squeeze time slot.

  • To prevent the spread of disease, only apples picked from the Curran Orchard will be allowed to go through the cider press. Do not bring apples picked or purchased elsewhere.

  • Expect to obtain approximately one gallon of juice per pressing time.

  • You can squeeze approximately two crates (about 2 plastic bags) of washed apples per pressing time.

  • There is a limit of two bags of apples per press time.

Additional information

  • Locate specific tree varieties using the Curran Orchard Tree Map.

  • Do not pick apples from trees that are taped and have "Do Not Pick" signs.

  • Do not climb trees or hang from branches.

  • Ladders are not allowed in the orchard.
