Curran Apple Orchard's Annual Cider Squeeze
CORE is proud to present the Annual Cider Squeeze for our tree adopters and community!
2026 Annual Cider Squeeze
The Annual Cider Squeeze will be on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Tree adopters will receive more information during the summer about this fun, family-friendly event. In 2025, CORE invited the community to participate as well.
About the cider squeeze
The cider squeeze event is organized by CORE, with support from the City of University Place and volunteers. Located at the orchard, adopters and community members can go through the cider press line around the barn area.
A cider squeeze is where freshly picked apples from the orchard are washed and put through a cider press, producing an unfiltered, unpasteurized juice without added sugars. Washed apples are put into the press and ground into a pulp. The pulp is placed into a mesh bag in the press and then the pulp is squeezed to extract the juice. The juice leaves the cider press and flows into a clean bucket. The juice is then transferred to gallon sized containers. Apple juice from the cider press is raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized, sometimes containing sediment or pulp.
Tips for the cider squeeze
-
Bring your own bags and pick your apples ahead of your cider squeeze time slot.
-
To prevent the spread of disease, only apples picked from the Curran Orchard will be allowed to go through the cider press. Do not bring apples picked or purchased elsewhere.
-
Expect to obtain approximately one gallon of juice per pressing time.
-
You can squeeze approximately two crates (about 2 plastic bags) of washed apples per pressing time.
